The fishing year for all awards is January 1st
through December 31st. All members of the IWFA are eligible for monthly and
yearly awards.
Membership dues are payable prior to May 1st of
each your. Dues not received by May 1st are considered delinquent and render a
member unable to compete for monthly or annual awards until dues are paid. Those
affidavits received during the delinquency period will not be eligible for
monthly or yearly competition.
Monthly awards are given to the winners each month
for weight and release fish on the IWFA list. Affidavits must be filled out
completely and accurately on an official affidavit form and submitted to the
Awards/Data Committee Chairman. To win a monthly award, all affidavits must be
submitted by the fifth of the following month in which the fish was caught.
Affidavits may be mailed to the PO Box or Awards/Data Committee Chairman with a
postmark by the fifth of the following month in which the fish was caught, faxed
to the Awards/Data Committee Chairman by the fifth of the following month in
which the fish was caught, scanned and emailed to the Awards/Data Committee
Chairman by the fifth of the following month in which the fish was caught, or
filed electronically by the fifth of the following month in which the fish was
caught. All affidavits filed electronically are emailed to the Awards/Data
Committee Chairman for verification and then submitted to the scoring program.
If an affidavit is not received in time for monthly
award competition, it will still be credited to yearly scores, if received
within 30 days of the catch or release.
The first monthly award earned will be a brass pin.
The tenth monthly award will be a certificate. The twenty-fifth monthly award
earned will be an engraved plaque and, at that time, the recipient will be placed on the
“ Honor Roll.”
Members on the “ Honor Roll” will receive
credit for a monthly award if their total points exceed those of a regular
member. This applies to all listed fish.
The fiftieth monthly award earned is the IWFA
emblem on a small disc; the seventy-fifth monthly award earned is the IWFA
emblem on a medium disc; and the one-hundredth monthly award earned is the
IWFA emblem on a large disc. A small diamond is added to the large
disc when the one hundred fiftieth award is earned, an emerald is added at the
two hundredth award, a ruby at the three hundredth award, a sapphire at the four
hundredth award and a large diamond is added to complete the disc at the five
hundredth award.
Members
having won 500 monthly awards will no longer be eligible for monthly awards, but
have all other privileges of the “Honor Roll” members.
The annual yearly award for Release or Weight is the official IWFA cut-out disc.
If won again, a diamond is added to the disc.
To win a yearly
weight award for any of the fish on the list, members must top current IWFA club
record and hold the existing IWFA club record for that fish at the end of the
year, which is December 31st. A certificate will be issued to members who set or
break an IWFA club record during the year.
No member can win
more than one disc for annual weight or release awards for the same kind of
fish. If she repeats for the same type of fish, a diamond will be placed in her
original disc.
Yearly award
winners will be posted at the close of the fishing year on the official website,
www.IWFA.org and in Hooks and Lines. Any protests must be filed in writing to
the Awards/Data Committee Chairman and postmarked or faxed or emailed not later
than 10 days after the award list is published.
Beginning in the 2008 fishing
year, if a member has won a particular award three times during their
membership, they are no longer eligible for that award.
The Ann C. Kunkel Newcomer Award is exempt and may only be won once.
Anne D.
Crowninshield Trophy
The Anne D. Crowninshield Trophy is awarded at the end of the year to
the member accumulating the most points for the release of fish on the entire
IWFA list. There is a 5,000 point limit on each kind of fish. Anglers who win
the Anne D. Crowninshield Release Trophy for the first time will have their name
inscribed on the trophy and will also receive the Crowninshield Disc. In the
event the same angler wins the Crowninshield Trophy more than once, she will
have her name inscribed on the trophy and a diamond added to her disc.
Ginny
Sherwood Trophy
The Ginny Sherwood Trophy is awarded at the end of the year to the
member accumulating the most points scored throughout the year on weight or
landed fish with a maximum of a 5,000 point limit on each kind of fish. Anglers
who win the Ginny Sherwood Trophy for the first time will have their names
inscribed on the trophy and will also receive the Sherwood Disc. In the event
the same angler wins the Sherwood Trophy more than once, she will have her name
inscribed on the trophy and a diamond added to the disc.
Kay
Rybovich Trophy
The Kay Rybovich Trophy is awarded at the end of the year to the member
who weighs or releases the most variety of fish. This would honor those ladies
that fish in a number of different areas catching a number of different species,
but not necessarily to any great number of points. If in the case of a tie, the
angler that weighs or releases the most species first would win. Anglers who win
the Kay Rybovich Trophy for the first time will have their names inscribed on
the trophy and will also receive the Rybovich Disc. In the event the same angler
wins the Rybovich Trophy more than once, she will have her name inscribed on the
trophy and a diamond added to the disc.
It has been
determined that in the 2006 fishing year, that these top awards would be given
in order that a member could only win one of the these trophies. The order
will be the Crowninshield, Rybovich and Sherwood. For example, if one
member wins the Crowninsheild, and also had the most points for the Sherwood,
that member would receive the Crowninshield and not the Sherwood. The next
member in line of highest points would win the Sherwood. This took effect
in the 2006 fishing year.
